New Careers for Aboriginal People PROGRAM, Mid-North Coast (upper)

The New Careers for Aboriginal People Program is funded by the Department of Education & Training, and is auspice by Ngurrala Aboriginal Corporation. The upper Mid-North Coast covers an area from Stuarts Point to Tweed Heads. There are thirteen NCAP Officers in the State and they are all Indigenous.The NCAP Program provides an avenue for easier access into employment and training for Aboriginal people.

In the Macksville office is Jennifer Rosser the Assistant Administrator and Catherine Bula is the NCAP Manager. The NCAP program also host employee's who are CDEP participants who work in areas of administration support, gardening and cleaning.  

TARGET GROUP

Individual Aboriginal people who wish to find work or improve their current job situation through tailored individual support.  

PROGRAM AIM

To assist Aboriginal people to access education and training pathways.
To address their individual needs.
To enhance their prospects of permanent employment.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

To increase the participation of Aboriginal people in the labour market.
Through indentifying and supporting sustainable education, training and employment opportunities at the local level.

The NCAP Program offers a range of services including the following; Job Referral - Resume & Interview Process -
Jobs- Career Planning - Networking - Follow up & Support - Advice - Quality Employment Contracts - Job Placement Monitoring - Training & Skills Development.

The NCAP Program also offers pre - employment training called (Passport To Employment) to develop client's skill's to be job ready.
